Pennsylvania has been very fortunate to see the growth of strong public-private partnerships in the area of social services for its citizens. Adoption is the most recent area to experience this growth. Adoption services are offered through Pennsylvania’s 67 county children and youth agencies as well as private adoption agencies.
In many regions of the Commonwealth, residents are afforded several choices when selecting an adoption agency. The Department of Public Welfare has compiled a list of agencies that are currently licensed to provide adoption services in Pennsylvania. To locate information for a specific county or private agency, visit the Department of Public Welfare’s Human Services Provider Online Directory at: http://www.dpw.state.pa.us/searchforprovider/humanservicesproviderdirectory/index.htm. From the Service Code drop-down box, select either County Children and Youth Agency or Adoption Services.
