Shawn is somewhat quiet when first meeting others, but it doesn't take long for him to warm up and show his friendly, personable side. He's an athlete who is currently a linebacker on his school's football team. In his free time, Shawn likes to keep up with social media, watch DC Comics movies, take walks, play video games, and hang out at the skate park with his friends.
He admitted that he can be messy at times, but he has no trouble cleaning up when he needs to. He likes to be treated respectfully and prefers when adults understand that he is busy at times and might need a little time to get things done. Shawn has said that he doesn't feel comfortable attending church, but he enjoys watching televised Christian services on the weekends. Lecrae, a Christian rapper, is one of his favorite musical artists. Shawn is looking into the possibility of attending a technical school next year and thinks he would like to learn more about becoming a barber.
Steven charms others with his quiet personality. Once he gets to know you, you'll see his outgoing side. He loves sports, especially basketball. When Steven is not playing basketball he enjoys playing football, watching movies like The Adventures, and reading the Percy Jackson series. He recently tried bowling and had a great time. Steven tends to look out for his little sister. He would benefit from a family who would continue to encourage him to focus on his own interest and just be a kid.
Sierra quickly wins you over with her big smile and curious nature. She is very loving and helpful; she is always ready to lend a helping hand. She enjoys meeting new people and showing them her favorite possessions. She is a fan of anything that has to do with the movie Frozen, especially her dolls, and high heels. She also loves playing with her friends, watching Disney Clubhouse, and playing with Play-Doh. Sierra just tried roller skating and would like to do it again. At times, she can be somewhat independent and determined to do things her own way, but she responds well to redirection and thrives when constancy and structure are in place.
This sibling group is very close and is looking for a home where they can stay together. They would like a two-parent African American home. The children are in contact with their birth mother and want to stay in contact with her.
Shawn, Steven, and Sierra are not yet legally free for adoption; however, when a permanent resource is identified, the county will enact final steps to terminate parental rights.
Families must have an approved Family Profile (home study) to adopt a child. Only those families with approved profiles will be considered by the child’s caseworker in the county children and youth agency with custody of the child.
The information is given by PAE based solely on the statement of the family that they are approved to adopt. Families in Pennsylvania without an approved Family Profile are directed to contact 1-800-585-SWAN1-800-585-SWAN
