Biography

A budding outdoorsman, there are few things Tyler enjoys more than spending time in the woods hiking or camping. He likes finding old glass bottles and collecting fossils, which he searches for along the many rocky creeks and streams in Pennsylvania. Tyler has several prize fossils that he has found, and enjoys teaching people how to find their own. Tyler enjoys attending matching events, and has given presentations at a couple events where he spoke about his knowledge of fossils. Sometimes, fossil hunts turn into fishing expeditions, as he often searches for fossils along streams.

As much as he would like to expand the number of fossils he has, Tyler's largest collection is his cards. Tyler has many different types of cards. He collects baseball cards, but he also has Yu-Gi-Oh cards, which are used in games that he plays with his friends. Tyler loves to show off his collection and explain each card to people. According to Tyler, some of these cards are very expensive and are a good investment in the future, as their prices could increase as the cards become rare. He says that he has a couple cards that are worth nearly $100, and he keeps these cards in protective cases.

Tyler loves music, and his favorite artist is Michael Jackson. "Thriller" and "Beat It" are his two favorite songs, and he sings along and dances to the music. Tyler has seen videos of Michael Jackson dancing, and he tries to emulate him. Tyler can spin like Jackson, but he still hasn’t perfected the moonwalk. Tyler has stated that he can only moonwalk while wearing socks on a hard, slick surface. He is open to many different types of music, but prefers pop.

Tyler enjoys spending one-on-one time with adults, and he likes learning from them. In the past, Tyler has found school frustrating but as he works with school staff, he is finding it to be less so. Families interested in Tyler will want to build a strong rapport with his school, as transitioning to new schools has been difficult for Tyler. Currently living in a home with other boys his age, Tyler has done well, but can sometimes become frustrated with peers. When Tyler feels frustrated, he spends time in his room, or he goes on a bicycle ride. Tyler has been learning positive coping skills, but sometimes needs to be reminded to employ them.

Tyler loves animals and was involved with caring for the animals on a farm where he previously lived. He enjoyed the lifestyle of the farm as he always found something that would occupy him. Tyler has stated that, while he does not mind cows, he does not prefer them because you can't do anything fun with a cow. He prefers dogs because they can go on hikes and play fetch. According to Tyler, cows are not very good to go on hikes with because they just stand there.

Tyler needs a patient family who understand that transitions can be difficult for him. He hopes to find a family who lives in the country or who enjoy nature. Tyler is legally free for adoption and all families will be considered.
